Cairo

The vast Egyptian capital, Cairo, is bisected by the Nile River. The heart of the city is home to Tahrir Square and the Egyptian Museum, a treasure trove of antiquities including royal mummies and the treasures of Pharaoh Tutankhamun. Not far from the museum lies Giza with its legendary pyramids and the Sphinx, whose construction dates back to the 26th century BC. In the leafy Zamalek district on Gezira Island, one can admire a panoramic view of the city from the Cairo Tower, which rises to a height of 187 meters.
